It’s that time again. The Dark is Rising… time to turn it back

Posted on 14 October 202514 October 2025 By Graham No Comments on It’s that time again. The Dark is Rising… time to turn it back

There is a post from a while ago on here about this book, and that I tend to do a yearly reread, well, it’s that time of year. Really, it should be a book I pick up on the lead up to Christmas. But for some reason when it gets to autumn and October, I come back to this. This book is only book 2 of a sequence, but it’s the only one I have read in the series, and the one I love to come back to.

So here we go again. I don’t know what it is about this book, but I have always loved it since I first picked it up in the school library.

‘The Walker is abroad,’ he said again. ‘And this night will be bad, and tomorrow will be beyond all imagining.’

It gives me chills when I read these iconic lines at the start of the book, and I find myself drawn into the adventure again. Doesn’t seem to matter how many times I have read the book. I still enjoy each reread.

Of course, there is the issue with it getting in the way of reading the books I am currently reading, but its a small one compared to the others, so shouldn’t take too long.

Good reading. 🙂
